Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988)

Most of the films I watch and review on here are through virtual film nights with friends, taking it in turns to choose different movies. This was a result of one friend deciding he would pick a film that was in the box office top ten the week he was born. It's an odd film that I hadn't heard of before, a true life biographical tale of Preston Tucker, focusing on his attempts to produce and market the 1948 Tucker Sedan. Jeff Bridges holds your attention and keeps the film enjoyable, although whilst watching, I wasn't aware it was a true story which probably made it a bit more confusing. I wished that Preston had been a more dislikeable character, some of his decision making was bizarre, and you wonder why his family stuck by him. But that probably does the truth disservice. This is no masterpiece by any means, some of the editing is very strange, particularly during phone calls, and doesn't work at all. But it's enjoyable, harmless fun, and it's hard to make a bad film when Jeff Bridges and Joan Allen are your leads. 6.7/10

I'm Christian and like everyone, I'm a film critic in the sense that I enjoy watching any film at any time, discussing it, and in the last few years putting pen to paper to offer my thoughts.
