Unfinished Business (2015)

Unfinished Business is almost indescribably bad. Vince Vaughan wasn’t on the best run of form coming into it, having starred in the appalling Google advert The Internship the year before, and was still a couple of years away from his career renaissance in the form of Brawl in Cell Block 99 (2017) followed by the exceptional Dragged Across Concrete (2018).

He plays Dan here, a man who quits his job and starts his own business in the metal-swarf selling field, along with Tim (Tom Wilkinson) and Mike (an insufferable Dave Franco).

They travel to Portland and then Berlin in the hopes of closing a deal, competing with Dan’s old company and boss (Sienna Miller, in a baffling choice of role) and get themselves into ‘hilarious’ scraps during a gay fetish festival, a G8 summit, and a naked sauna.

Unfinished Business stops short of being offensive, but this doesn’t stop it being utter rubbish, dropping jokes that may not be insulting but certainly make you question who on earth was supposed to be laughing at them. When a films’ running joke hinges on one of the main characters having the surname ‘Pancake’, you know you’re in trouble. 2.5/10
