Bad Neighbours 2 (2016)

I saw Bad Neighbours (2014) in the cinema and although it was pretty forgettable, it seemed pretty harmless.

Having this week watched Bad Neighbours 2 (or Neighbours 2: Sorority Rising) it seems the first one might need readdressing, because Bad Neighbours 2 is unspeakably bad. (I probably won't revisit the first).

Once again Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne's couple are plagued by a next-door neighbour frat house, although this time, it turns into a sorority (if you don't know the difference, it's explained) and they're now parents to a young child.

Without doubt they're two of the worst parents imaginable, which is used for attempted laughs but much of these jokes are just baffling as to how two parents could be this ridiculous.

Now of course, this is supposed to be an utterly insane comedy, but the fact that you end up focusing on the believability of a parenting style shows how unamusing the rest of the film is.

Chloe Moretz, Beanie Feldstein and Kiersey Clemons are all insufferable as the sorority's leaders, repeatedly going on about how girls are superior to boys and how they're treated differently, which may be true, but they then proceed to act like utter morons for the entire of the film making their points invalid and their characters hateful.

Zach Efron's character may be an idiot but he's probably the only one who comes out of this with any credit, he actually does a half decent job of making the viewer not hate his character. But that's Bad Neighbours 2's sole saving grace, because it's almost completely without merit and utterly unfunny. 2.0/10
