Moana (2016)

Despite hearing many of the films songs many times a day from my daughter, I’m astonished to admit that I’d somehow escaped Moana's charms until sitting down to watch it this week. I have a huge affection for The Rock, and he voices Maui, a demi-god who is needed to help our heroine Moana. Moana has to embark on a quest to return the heart of goddess Te Fitti from Maui after the plants and fish on her families’ island begin to die out due to blight. Moana is one of Disney’s most gorgeous looking films to date, the sharpness of the animation during the films many sequences on the ocean is exquisite, completely bringing you into the world of Moana. That’s not to downplay the film itself, Moana is built from its characters up; Moana is an easy to root for heroine, and her relationship with Maui is the films core. Well, that and the songs of course, and on this front Lin-Manuel Miranda is at his finest (well, as always) interspersing catchy tunes throughout the films running time. 7.4/10

I'm Christian and like everyone, I'm a film critic in the sense that I enjoy watching any film at any time, discussing it, and in the last few years putting pen to paper to offer my thoughts.
