Aladdin (1992)

It’s been many years since I saw the original film, in fact I think I’ve seen the middling straight to video sequels (Return Of Jafar [1994], King Of Thieves [1996]) more recently. I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen as part of a thirty-year-old anniversary celebration, and I have to say it was exceptional to experience. Inspired by the 1940 film The Thief Of Bagdad, the tale of Aladdin is one that doesn’t need to be repeated here, but it’s safe to say this remains one of Disney’s finest films, and thirty years on, Robin Williams’ voice performance as the Genie remains, well, genius. The animation of Agrabah, the fictional city in which the film is set draws you into the world of Aladdin, and the songs, of course, are still capable of rousing even the most stony faced of audiences. If you get the chance, however many hundred times you’ve seen it, it’s absolutely worth watching on the big screen, especially if you haven’t before. 8.0/10

I'm Christian and like everyone, I'm a film critic in the sense that I enjoy watching any film at any time, discussing it, and in the last few years putting pen to paper to offer my thoughts.
