Watching the third film in the Trolls franchise is like inhaling a kilogram of candy floss whilst having glitter flung at you for ninety minutes. This might well be the case because I haven't seen the first two, and I'd argue that you don't really need to to be able to enjoy/endure this third part.
I say endure not because the film is dreadful, far from it- but sadly for myself and my daughter we had to share the front row with two women who'd taken a small child, and then proceeded to fiddle with their phones for the entire duration; an act of unspeakable selfishness, I don't care if it's a kid's screening or not.
As for the film itself, it's absolutely insane. Branch (a troll), who, from what I gleaned was a key player in the first two films, is visited by his long lost older brother who needs his help in saving a member of their former boy band, 'Brozone'. They're joined for the ride by Branch's girlfriend, and previous band members who are now doing their own thing and take some persuading to join the adventure.
My knowledge of Trolls is covered by the trolls we used to get when we visited Santa's grotto in Dublin every Christmas as youngsters, and you'd struggle to think how a feature length film could be concocted from that. But fair play, they've managed a trilogy out of this, and a bucket load of money. Apparently the second of the three is the best, and although I won't be rushing to see the others, it's almost a thankless task trying to review part three. Kids will love it.
