Route 9 (1998)

A made for T.V flick starring David Lynch favourite Kyle MacLachlan as a small-town cop who happens upon a drug deal gone wrong with his partner. After finding an enormous amount of money at the scene (and plenty of dead bodies) they face a moral conundrum, and, of course, make the decision to split most of the cash.

Unbeknownst to them, there was an FBI agent working undercover with the crew, and on top of that he was wearing a wire (as well as some of the bills being marked and traceable) leading to one disaster to the next for the two cops.

It's nothing we haven't seen before but the film is surprisingly solid, and would have worked fine on the big screen.

There are shades of Hell or High Water (2016) as well as Breakdown (1997) meaning that David MacKay's small film showed he had potential that he never really fulfilled, sticking to TV movies which is somewhat of a shame. 6.3/10
